Dearest readers, I believe we all have that one outfit we bought because we look great in it, but never had the chance to wear it. Recently, I wore a dress gifted to me just over a year ago because I finally found a moment to wear it at a curated high tea with an incredible team of ladies. That is the true beauty of coming together. Whether it is for brunch, dinner, or a lively evening of trivia, these moments become placeholders for our shared victories. It is the perfect excuse to gather your favourite women, revive those gorgeous garments laid to rest beneath everyday attire, and rescue those holiday shoes from the back of the closet. When women step out together in their finest, it is not just about fashion. It is a celebration of the team we build, the support we give, and the collective space we take up. Let those outfits see the light again, will you? You have earned the right to shine together.

We adore a beautifully themed event. This breathtaking purple-and-gold high tea truly deserved a moment of quiet admiration. It felt like a magical, mystical tea party in a fairy garden. We ate from gorgeous gold-rimmed plates and drank from matching teacups shaped like flower petals. A wooden table, overflowing with wondrous treats, decorated with candles and flowers, looked glorious. Everyone mingled and tasted almost every delicious bite. It was a palate play. As we chatted, we sipped on dirty chais, hot chocolates, creamy coffees, and bright mimosas.

The Sweet Spread
The bee sting – consider us stung! Caramelised honey and almond pastry, delicious, creamy and nutty. (P.S. Yoli’s Bakery is known for its signature bee sting.) The lemon meringue tarts were well-balanced between sweet and tangy. The Amarula Coffee Cake was heaven-sent with soft layers of cake and beautiful roses piped onto it. There were also macarons, hazelnut meringues, mini cakes, purple cinnamon doughnuts with edible gold foil, gluten-free millionaires’ shortbread, which were little bites of decadence, fairy biscuits, and so much more! It really was an enchanting spread of desserts, and the fact that everything – even the dough – was purple absolutely blew our minds.

The Savoury Spread
Pastries and breads, filled with goodness and a whole lot of personality, were a tease for the taste buds. The Salmon Cream Cheese Choux Pastry was a real melt-in-your-mouth treat, tasting like a dream. The assorted bagels with fresh fillings and interesting combinations, basil pesto and cream cheese, and the smoked salmon, dill, lemon and caper cream cheese were fresh, light, yet satisfying. The Asian pulled pork brioche sliders were a mix of rich and airy, with a slightly sweet, deep savoury flavour, and buttery notes from the bun. A tea-time classic, the English cucumber sandwich, is light and refreshing. An elevated favourite, chicken mayo and basil pesto Turkish pide, is rich and flavourful. These were just a few treats amongst many others.

Thank you to Nicky and the team at Yoli’s Bakery for hosting a beautiful High Tea and for having us.
