If you’ve ever walked out of a salon feeling like your hair wasn’t really seen, Sandro Hair Atelier might be the reset you’ve been looking for. Sandro has been cutting, colouring, and caring for hair for 27 years. It’s in his blood; his parents were hairdressers, and he got hooked at seven years old. He just always knew that he was meant to do this. He officially started working at 19, spending the next 18 years working in the hair industry before opening two salons in Johannesburg, which are now managed by his brother. While he then proceeded to open two salons here in Ballito.

He moved to Ballito with his family six years ago for a slower, better lifestyle, and waited patiently until he found the perfect spot to open his salon. The newest chapter is Sandro Hair Atelier, where he has brought his signature passion to the Coco de Mer Boutique Hotel. Being open for nearly two months now, “We just knew right away, this is the right place,” he says. “Our salon is an absolute luxury destination.” And it shows, the space is beautiful, with a relaxing view of the ocean from the colour station. They are built around one simple idea: from the moment you walk in, you’re the priority. Here, you don’t get rushed through a chair. You get a thorough consultation first (free of charge) so you and Sandro are on the same page before he starts working on your hair.

Sandro is a master stylist, with a talent for everything “hair” from cutting and styling to colour applications; Noms’s speciality is blow waves, braids, and Mycro Keratin and Brazilian treatments; and Thobile, who’s a colour applicator and knows her way around a perfect tone, and gives the best massages while she shampoos your hair.

The salon has also set itself apart with the products they stock, using trusted brands like Muk, KMS and Schwarzkopf for professional styling and colour protection, Newtrino for hair loss, and Mycro Keratin to make sure the results last.

Living by the sea is beautiful, but it’s tough on your hair. Sun, salt, chlorine, and wind dry it out fast. Sandro’s take? Treat your hair like your skin. “Regular treatments every 6–8 weeks are your sun lotion for your hair,” he says. “Rehydrate it. That’s the kind of practical, honest advice you get here, no fluff, just what works.” It’s an elevated experience, with undivided attention and quality service at a fair price. “Healthy, gorgeous hair is my absolute passion. I love transforming people.”

If you’re in Ballito and your hair’s been through a rough summer, or just needs a bit of personalised love, pop in for a free consultation and hair assessment. At Sandro Hair Atelier, you’re not just another booking, you’re the sole focus.
