Mishaps & Memories
An Unexpected Honeymoon Adventure in the Cape

Ten years ago, Clyde and Des-Marié Victor tied the knot and decided to keep things local for their honeymoon. No exotic islands or international escapes - just two blissful weeks in the scenic Cape, where they got to explore, unwind, and get to know each other's quirks without the chaos of daily life. Little did they know, their adventure would be filled with laughter, mishaps, and unforgettable moments.

The newlyweds flew into Cape Town, checked into a cosy hotel by the V&A Waterfront, and headed out for lunch at the Cape Town Fish Market. It was at that moment that the honeymoon almost ended before it even began - Clyde realised he'd lost his wedding ring! Des-Marié burst out laughing at the sight of his pale face; thankfully, they were able to laugh it off (and eventually find a solution). This was just the start of their unconventional honeymoon.

While exploring Cape Town, they discovered that they liked (and disliked) exactly the same things, from breathtaking hikes to indulging in local flavours, every moment was a new discovery. Des-Marié recalls one of the highlights was their trip up the Table Mountain, while in the cable car, the operator asked her what she does for a living, then declared, "You don’t look like a skelm!" when he heard that she was a Used Car Sales Manager.

“Planning was a breeze thanks to our agent at Pentravel, who put together a flawless package with flights, a rental car, and daily excursions. Our honeymoon experience has definitely impacted our relationship - we've learned to roll with the punches and appreciate the little moments. We laughed, we stressed, and we navigated setbacks together, and we wouldn't change a thing (except maybe packing more Dramamine for the wine pairing),” said Des-Marié.
While the couple loved Cape Town, they are people who thrive on new experiences, so they’ll be heading somewhere new for their next getaway. In the end, their honeymoon was the perfect blend of adventure, laughter, and love.
If you're planning a honeymoon, go for it - embrace the mishaps, savour the moments, and make it yours.
