What We’ve Missed

The FabTeam has been missing our favourite local food and drink spots during the lockdown. It has been really tough, and we’ve missed visiting our favourite spots for a great meal and some drinks with friends and family! Here’s what the FabTeam has missed most…

Sharlene Odayar – Production

“I really miss Wimpy breakfasts with the team and half-price sushi on Tuesdays.”

“What I’ve missed most during the lockdown is having a quick stop at Seattle Coffee Co. for a delicious cup of coffee to start my day before heading to the office in the mornings.”

Jordie Trotter – Journo

“I have missed heading to Lifestyle Centre and visting Alchemy for a drink and then enjoying a delicious dinner at 45 Eat Street.”

“I have missed visiting Simbiosis for a lovely treat.”

“I also missed visiting our beachside restaurants like Concha and Nikos, enjoying some tasty food while being close to the ocean.”

Jordyn Trollip – Word Guru

“What I have missed the most during the lockdown is being able to sit at Alchemy on Eat Street with a Christian Grey G&T (I know – I’m such a girl!). I love either listening to the live music or, if no one is playing, watching all of the gorgeous people walk by. This place has the happiest and most vibrant atmosphere, especially when shared with family and friends. It is definitely my favourite spot for a drink during the hot December days!”

“Something I’ve been looking forward to the most is getting a fresh set of gel nails at Nails by Judith. I was tempted to try to do my nails at home, but I knew they’d never look as good! The only downside to getting my nails done: trying to choose a colour from all of the beautiful options!”

Evashini Naidoo – Design

“I have deeply missed going to the vibey Beach Bums during the lockdown. I am in love with their wood-fired piazzas! I also miss the spicy mutton curry roti roll from Famous Bunny – an office staple for me!”

Savannah Greyvenstein – Design

“I’ve definitely missed breakfasts with the team at Toast – as well as my favourite Toast benedict there!”

“Also their chicken and mushroom soup is definitely missing from my life, especially in the cold weather!”

Lucille Wendler – Sales

“I have really missed going to the Tongaat Ski Boat Club and having a braai and laughing with all of the locals. I have also really missed going down to the beach, just spending time in the sun.”

“I have missed going out for dinner at Mozambik. They have such a great vibe and amazing R&Rs and food!”

“I am missing scuba diving!”

Lorinda Scott – Boss Lady

“I miss smiling faces, I miss seeing my dad and I miss a friendly, happy and positive social media experience.”

“In Ballito, we have been super blessed to be able to do road beach walks and, later, promenade walks. We grab a Concha coffee after that and a takeaway of “whatever we feel like”. My kids were all home during the lockdown so that felt normal. Our Friday night dinner out was replaced with dinner made by Mom, then dinner in, and now a slightly different dinner out. So we have tried as far as possible to be as normal as possible. My Thursday morning meeting with Justin became a family affair, and so I’m glad to have our first Thursday breakfast out in mid-July!”

“So what did I miss? Normality and absolute freedom of choice.”

Amy Meyer – SalesÂ

“What I have missed is The Market at Lifestyle Centre on a Friday night. It’s just so vibey and a great place to end off the week! I love being around family and friends, listening to one of their live bands while feasting on one of their delicious eats.”

“I have also missed Zaras Cafe in a Saturday morning, sipping on one of their amazing cappuccinos and ordering my absolute favourite: Iberca Hash. It’s just the absolute best breakfast in town! I also love having Mara’s banter around the tables – she is such a great person and host!”

Taryn Sathialoken – Sales

“During the lockdown I’ve really missed taking a scenic drive to Hops for their amazing hot beverages and watching the ocean. Their view just cannot be beat!”
