It’s finally the much-anticipated December holidays! But the novelty of sleeping in late and watching TV all day is wearing off quickly, and those restless, little bodies are searching for something to do. Fear not, parents! Open every weekend and on public holidays from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Ballito Farmer’s Market is the perfect place to keep the little ones entertained. With plenty of open play space, they can run, play ball games, and even bring their furry friends. Kids will love the exciting activities available, including shaded play areas with jungle gyms, floating surfboards, bungee trampolines, a gem scratch patch, slime making, mega-bubbles and saddling up for pony rides! Cutie Patootie, in Sage Centre, is a magical role-play village that stimulates the imagination and promotes creativity – a great place to let them have fun and learn fundamental skills. With its adorable aesthetic, marked by beautiful pastel colours and cute miniature furniture, it has been carefully designed to inspire children to engage in purposeful play. They can be whoever they want to be, whether it’s a chef cooking up a storm or a stylist creating the next big trend. The “role-play pods” are designed to replicate a little village, including a cafe, medical centre, vet, construction site and other charming village favourites that encourage and inspire play. They also offer enchanting birthday parties full of fun!
Adrenaline Boost
If you’re looking for something to tire out the children and give them something to brag about to their friends, Ace Karting is the place to be. Located on parking level 3 in Ballito Junction Regional Mall, they offer all kinds of fun-filled and fast-paced activities. You can make bookings for your group or “arrive and drive” as they say. If you haven’t done this before, worry not! They have staff on hand to show you the ropes, or track rather. Open daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., there’s enough time to pop in and make those laps and memories – maybe even break a record or two.
Scaly Shenanigans
Ndlondlo Reptile Park is a conservation-based institution that doubles as a rehabilitation facility for injured and rescued indigenous reptiles, making for a fun and educational outing. This team is dedicated to their cause with a 24-hour rescue service available to the public. Every visitor, child or adult, is taken around on a guided tour with a knowledgeable guide. Certain reptiles are available for the touch-and-feel experience, which makes the visit thrilling, informative and interactive. Look out for them at Sugar Rush Park over the holidays with a Christmas tree and decorations!
