Ballito is a pet-friendly community, from promenade walks to restaurants that welcome pets. There are a few special furry residents who frequent and even “manage” some of the local hot spots. We get to meet four of our popular four-legged residents.
The Manager
Loki started off as a Junior Manager in November 2023 and has since become Manager at Jimbo’s Burger Bar. He is the most relaxed member of the team and, as chief taste tester, enjoys his Patty for Fatty every afternoon. Visitors ask where he is everyday when he’s not sitting in the middle of the shop and waiting to greet guests.
The Mayor
The family at Al Pescatore are animal lovers. They have had three cats as residents. Bella, Zeus (who even ended up at home), and Mayor, affectionately named because she frequents all of the restaurants in the area like the Mayor of Ballito. Described as a ‘typical woman’, you never know which personality of Mayor’s is going to come up the stairs. She can be very lovable, letting you stroke her and cuddle to a degree, or might scratch at first contact. Customers love it when she arrives, especially the children. She gives the restaurant a friendly and homey feel.
The Siblings
Gigi and Zeus have been around Gigi’s Cafe since the grand opening in April 2024. Gigi is the baby boss of everything and Zeus is the gentle giant and the Master Manager. Gigi is a friendly but feisty little firecracker, who bounces around with all the excitement and is mommy’s little shadow! She’s always down for a puppachino, a good laugh, and is obsessed with the beach – especially chasing and playing with crabs. Zeus, on the other hand, loves tickles, walks, bouncing around on the beach and is always down for quality time with mom, dad, and his baby sister Gigi.
