Splashy Legends Line-up 2019!

Splashy Fenners can look forward to yet another historical performance at this
year’s Splashy Fen Music Festival, as the Legends of the Fen showcase is
set to entertain and excite the crowds with its diverse and crowd-pleasing (not

to mention seriously famous) line-up.

Underberg, 14 February 2019:
Don Clarke, convener of the Legends of the Fen show, with his partner Dicky
Roberts, has been crafting, managing and hosting the popular Legends
showcase for three successive years. Adding to the rich historical relevance
that Splashy Fen has both for locals and Fenners from afar, Legends of the
Fen provides a casually creative platform for those who once played to the
crowds at festivals long gone.
Paying tribute to 30 years of great quality South African music, it is a fitting
tribute to those who have helped build the iconic festival into what it is today –
particularly as the festival celebrates its Pearl Anniversary this Easter.

The showcase, starting at 12pm on Sunday the 21 st of April, will open with a
solo set from the legendary and mercurial Jack Mantis. He will be followed by
LEGEND IN THE MAKING, a new feature that celebrates younger, greener
artists on the rise. This year, the exceptionally talented Rorke will entertain the
crowds with his wizard guitar skills and song writing abilities.
Needing no introduction, Roly Struckmeyer and his 3-piece band will take to
the stage, followed by the ubiquitous and fabulous Hairy Legged Lentil Eaters
who have become something of an institution at Splashy Fen – with their
quirky act and wonderful music, loved by all.
After the hairy boys, we introduce something quite different for the stage; The
Meditators – an amazing reggae band from Durban who are fast growing their
enormous reputation with a mesmerising brand of roots reggae.
Finally, our Coup de Gras…PJ Powers herself! Don Clarke has had an
association with PJ for many years, starting with her massive hit of his
reconciliation song Sanbonani, back in the late 80s.
More than a legend on the stage, PJ is a monumental South African icon who
stands alongside the stalwarts like Mango Groove and Johnny Clegg. Once
the singer with hugely successful group Hotline, she went on to become a
darling of the people with a solo career that, to this day, just keeps on rolling.
Thandeka, her Zulu name given to her by the people, means “the loved one”.
And that she is!
“We will be performing our “must have” song Hey-Na-Splashy,” says Clarke.
“And we will definitely take up the opportunity to join PJ on stage for
Sanbonani, as we promise to offer Splashy Fen fans something truly special
once again.”
The 30th edition of the Splashy Fen Music Festival takes place in the rolling
foothills of beautiful Underberg, over the Easter long-weekend from Thursday
the 18th of April to Monday the 22nd of April. Fans can still purchase tickets
online at www.splashyfen.co.za for R890 per person for the full 4-day festival,

and day passes will be sold at the gates throughout the duration of the
